- Titanium Bonded®
Titanium Bonded is not painted or plated but an application of a unique formulation of titanium, chromium and nitride to the cutting blades that actually penetrates and treats the metal to create a permanent bond. The patented Titanium Bonding process provides corrosion and adhesive resistance and the process itself makes the stainless steel 3x harder than untreated stainless, providing a blade that stays sharper longer.
- Titanium Alloy
Titanium alloy is a lightweight alloy, corrosion resistant and is incredibly strong. Titanium alloy also has a very high tensile strength, toughness and ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Cuda uses Titanium alloy on select tools for added strength, without increasing the weight of the product.
- Aluminum Alloy
Aluminum alloys tend to be more flexible than steels so they allow better and more creative designs. Though there are aluminum alloys with somewhat higher tensile strengths than the commonly used kinds of steel. Adding aluminum in mass provides strength and rigidity. Aluminum owes its excellent corrosion resistance to the barrier oxide film that is bonded strongly to its surface and that, if damaged, re-forms immediately in most environments. Aluminum alloy is the perfect material for marine-based tools.
- German 4116 Stainless
A fine-grained, stainless steel often used for medical devices and food processing, the steels Carbon and Chromium content give it a great degree of corrosion resistance, as well as strength and edge retention. The 4116 Stainless Steel is the perfect marine-grade cutting steel given its perfect combination of carbon and chromium content.
- Full Tang Construction
A full-tang is where the blade is extended throughout the handle portion of the cutting implement. Full-tang is incredibly important due to the fact that it provides strength to the cutting blade and also supports a stronger and more ridged handle.
Thru-hardening gives you a hard steel blade that will hold its edge, even after re-sharpening. This is opposed to case hardening which only hardens the surface.
- Oversized Backbone
Backbone refers to the thickness of the blade. The Cuda backbone is the strength behind the cut. A thick backbone provides an unparalleled rigidity so the cut is as straight and true as intended.
- Cuda Grips
All Cuda fishing tools feature the "Cuda Scale Pattern". The scale pattern is important as it connects the tools to the fast and fierce ways of the barracuda and also provides and incredibly secure and comfortable grip in all environments and conditions.
- Heat Inducted Blades
Heat induction is a triple-heat process. The base steel is heated, then the steel supporting the blade edges and a final heat treatment on the blade edges provides up to a62Rc. This triple-heat process is a precise heating technology to a specific area of the blades providing a stronger, longer lasting cutting edge.
- High Carbon Cutlery Grade Steel
Quality tools start with quality steel. The more carbon in the steel, the longer the life of the tool. Cutlery grade steel usually means high uniformity and strict control over trace elements in the steel. Cuda uses high carbon cutlery steel to ensure the best quality tools possible.
Some material requires a "sawing motion" vs. a slicing motion. Cuda offers various serration patterns on our tools to provide you with the most appropriate blade for the desired cut.
Micro-serrations are crucial when the material or sub-straight being cut is slippery. The micro-serrations allow the blades to grip the sub-straight with the serrations without perforating or tearing the material being cut. The micro-serrations provide controlled and pristine cuts.
- Tungsten Carbide
Tungsten carbide is an inorganic chemical compound (specifically, a carbide) containing equal parts of tungsten and carbon. Tungsten carbide is approximately two times more ridged than steel and is much denser than steel or titanium. Tungsten is very abrasion resistant and can also withstand high temperatures caused by friction. Tungsten carbide tools maintain a sharp cutting edge better than other tools as they can resist high temperatures and are extremely hard.
